1824-2024

Spring has arrived and flowers are beginning to bloom!

Have you seen the restored dinghy at the front of the Harbour Office which has been transformed into a planter?

Two-hundred years ago this year, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) charity was created. The service's motto is "saving lives at sea", but its beginnings were very much on dry land - right in the heart of the City of London. To celebrate this milestone the Harbour decided to use plants to portray the RNLI flag.

The RNLI is run by volunteers and since the charity launched its first boat in 1824 the RNLI has saved more than 146,000 lives at sea.

Come along and have a look at this beautiful display and if you wish to make a donation to this worthwhile lifesaving charity there is a donation box in the Office.
